Experience Sámi culture at Ájtte – Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum. Here we tell the story of Sápmi, about the land and its people, a tale of living and surviving in a demanding landscape.
Ájtte is the main museum for Sámi culture in Sweden. Here you can embark on a journey through time and space. Listen to stories about the noaidi, the Sámi shaman, and the mysterious and powerful drums. View the beautiful and colorful traditional costumes and the extensive silver collection. Learn why the bear was sacred to the Sámi and why it couldn’t be called by its real name.
We have guide booklets in Swedish, English, German, Dutch, and French. Audio guides are available in Swedish and English.
Museum Shop
Ájtte’s museum shop is something out of the ordinary, filled with exciting items for both adults and children, and gifts for others and yourself. Here you’ll find a wide selection of handicrafts, jewelry, home decor, books, skincare products, clothing, and local products.
Restaurant Ájtte
Adjacent to our museum, Restaurant Ájtte serves lunch, coffee, and à la carte meals, always focusing on quality ingredients that are as local and Swedish as possible. Opening hours Tuesday-Thursday 09:00-15:00.
